Thank you for your recent response to our email survey. We very much appreciate your feedback and we’re taking this opportunity to tell you about the valuable information we received from our members, use this as a chance to remind you about things the credit union already does or offers and also explain future improvements we plan to make.

ATM Convenience and Fees

Connex Credit Union has a perceived lack of branch and ATM locations, but we’re excited to remind you that we’ve participated in the Allpoint ATM network for many years. With more than 35,000 nationwide surcharge-free ATMs, you can go everywhere and not pay any fees.

Some popular locations with Allpoint ATMs include CVS, Walgreen’s, Target, Costco and many other retail stores. Visit our website and use the Allpoint locator to find the surcharge-free ATM nearest your home, office or vacation destination!

  • Call Allpoint Interactive Voice Reponse system at 1-800-976-4917 to have ATM locations sent directly to your mobile phone

Once you're on the Allpoint website, simply enter your phone number, select your device type and carrier and your Allpoint application will be sent to you in a text message. Follow the prompts to enjoy more than 35,000 surcharge-free ATMs nationwide... all from the palm of your hand.

Additionally, members with Unbank Checking, our newest high-yield checking account, can save more money with rebates, up to $20 per month, on foreign ATM transactions (on non-Connex and non-Allpoint ATMs.)

Branch Locations and Convenience 

We participate in the national Credit Union Service Center, or CUSC Shared Branching network.  Connex members can enjoy the convenience of shared branching where you can conduct Connex Credit Union transactions at 38 Connecticut credit union locations and more than 3,900 locations nationwide. Participating Connecticut credit unions include Charter Oak FCU, CorePlus FCU, First New England FCU and Seasons FCU. Anywhere you see the Credit Union Service Centers “swirl” you can perform routine teller transactions, such as deposits, withdrawals and more as though you were at a Connex branch. Your transactions will be real time and live. Just provide your credit union’s name, your account number and present valid photo identification when conducting a transaction.

In addition, based on last year's survey, we extended our branch hours: Thursdays - 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. - and Fridays - 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Higher Rates

We received feedback on our rates and some members don't always think they are as high as they would like to see. Connex Credit Union’s rates are always competitive in the market. In fact, credit unions traditionally have higher rates on savings and lower rates on loans than banks, car dealerships and other sources.

Loans

We have lots of examples where we’ve been able to save our members’ money on all types of loans – both new loans and loans they were able to refinance from another financial institution. It’s a great idea to call Connex Credit Union when you’re shopping for a loan to see how much we can save you!

Checking

In October, we introduced our newest checking account, Unbank Checking. It goes against everything you ever thought about checking and is all part of unbanking with Connex. Not to mention a very unbank-like high 3.25% APY*. Also, our Your Choice Checking Account offers great Bonus Rewards that boost divedend rates on Share Certifcate and Money Market Accounts.

 
The Connex leadership team does a constant review of competitor rates and Connex is always among the highest in the area. If you find something better, let us know. We're always willing to take competitor rates into consideration!

Fees

Some members were concerned about fees. No one like fees and why would they? While we do charge a few fees at Connex, the great news is that you can go through your entire membership without ever being charged one!

On an individual basis, we’re glad to help our members do just that. In addition, we give up to $20 in rebates for foreign ATM fees when you have an Unbank Checking Account, we don’t have a monthly fee for our Your Choice Checking Account when you have direct deposit, our Online Bill Payment service is free and you can also avoid overdraft fees by carefully monitoring your accounts. Our online services, including Online Banking are a great way to stay on top of the accounts whenever it’s convenient for you.


 

MFS Financial Planning and Financial Education Workshops

Many members want more financial planning and assistance.  That is why we offer financial planning and education for all our members. Through MEMBERS Financial Services at Connex Credit Union, we can help you plan your financial future. The MEMBERS Financial Services programoffers products and services designed to help you identify your financial goals and objectives, analyze your current financial situation and develop a financial management program.

Additionally, we offer FREE educational workshops, scheduled at least once a month, to help educate both members and non-members on timely financial topics and are much needed in this economic climate. Topics include:

  • Women & Finance
  • Online Services
  • Identity Theft
  • First-Time Home Buyers

Website and Other Online Services

We've received feedback that more help is needed with setting up Online Services such as Bill Payment, e-Statements and Password Security. Not only do we have step-by-step instructions posted on our website (including Online Banking, e-Statement setup and how to print or save check images), we've posted demos, tours and frequently asked questions to assist you. Not to mention, you can contact a Member Service Representative in a number of ways to assist you: by calling 1-800-CR-UNION, online via live chat, or just stop by the nearest branch and we'll walk you through the steps at our Internet Café

Look for even more enhancements in late 2009 and into 2010 as we continually work to make our services better!
