Connex Corporate Giving Statement

Connex Credit Union has a long history of supporting the communities we serve through in-kind donations, fundraisers, volunteerism, scholarships and financial knowledge seminars. To better serve our members and the community, we are pleased to introduce ConnexCares, our credit union’s charitable and philanthropic program. Our mission through ConnexCares is to promote financial literacy, well-being, and understanding to our members and the greater communities we serve.

Financial Seminars
Connex is committed to improving the lives of our members by working in their best interest and by giving them the guidance they need to help them achieve their financial goals. As a part of this commitment to our members, we are extending this philosophy to the greater community by hosting financial literacy seminars throughout the year.
Our financial literacy seminars focus on various topics that help our members and community make more informed decisions when it comes to finances. Some of the topics we’ve covered include Medicare, Social Security, retirement, understanding credit scores, identity theft and much more. The seminars are taught by subject matter experts from Connex and various organizations.
Our coin cashing machines help raise over $10,000 a year for local organizations that include animal shelters, food banks, youth groups and more. The coin cashing machines charge a five percent fee to Connex members and a seven percent fee to non-members. Unlike many machines that charge higher fees and profit from them, Connex donates 100 percent of the collected fees to various organizations in the community. The best part is anyone can get involved to support a good cause. We encourage you to cash in your loose change and help make a difference. Coin cashing machines are at our branches in Guilford, Hamden, Meriden, and North Haven.
College can be the most enjoyable and rewarding experience of a student’s life, but it can also be expensive. To help offset the expense of college and reward students for their ambition, Connex offers three scholarships annually.
• The $2,000 John R. Edwards Community Involvement Scholarship (for students demonstrating a commitment to community service)
• The $2,000 Arthur B. Haesche Memorial Scholarship (specifically for business students)
• The $1,000 Nicolas G. Hackett Memorial Scholarship
Connex firmly believes in giving extra time back to worthwhile causes, which is why from time to time you’ll see Connex associates out in the community supporting events, fundraisers and more. For example, we’ve assembled a team of Connex employees and family members armed with goodwill and enthusiasm to participate in a home build for Habitat for Humanity of Greater New Haven. We also lace up our shoes and run for a good causes such as the PLR ShamRock & Roll 5K to raise awareness and collections for the Diaper Bank.
In-kind Donations and Fundraising
Each year we make monetary contributions or help an organization with its fundraising efforts. Whether it’s collecting coats for a local coat drive or raising funds to purchase gifts for needy families during their holidays giving event, Connex Credit Union and its employees are committed to helping to make a difference.
We are proud of the work our company and our employees partake in to help make a difference in the communities we live and work in. Helping others is an important cornerstone of our business, and if your organization is interested in partnering with us to host a financial seminar or participate in our Coins-for-Change program, please do not hesitate to contact us.
